About Me

I've been a member of ACW for a few years now and attend the Thames Valley Group.  More recently I've also become part of the small group who are hoping to develop an Oxfordshire group.

My writing has included articles and poetry, but recently I've concentrated more on fiction, and almost given up poetry. My novel Baby, Baby was published in 2010 and I am now working on a follow-up. I aim  to quietly challenge the assumptions of our secularised society.

I'm also an artist and my cards (from my own photos) are available from my website,

I've done all kind of things over time and while raising a family.  My academic background is in religious studies, art history, and social sciences. I love gardening and nature/biology and have 4 cats. And that is in addition to my involvement in our local church.

Yeah, I have published! Am now working on the follow-up... I decided there was no point (as you say) in offering what I write to a specifically Christian publishing house, having done my research on what's available from them. And with my knowledge of who visits Christian bookshops. I'm selling via the website and Amazon. Christians probably do need to read it, and some have and enjoyed: others I know are scared of it.

You say, "I am trying to write fiction which is what might be called 'open and honest' fiction about Christians - and their struggles with the 21st cent society we live in." Do it! Just do it, Clare! The world needs that kind of novel. And they might read it in that form, whereas they certainly won't read an 'evangelistic' book.
But if you publish yours through Bethany House or Zondervan (or such like), I'm afraid only Christians will read it.
