About Me

I write fairytales with bite as short stories, novels and some scripts.  My favourite authors are Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse and Terry Pratchett.

I have had short stories published online at Shortbread Short Stories, cafelit and Alfie Dog Fiction.

I have had stories published in anthologies published by Bridge House Publishing (A Helping Hand in Alternative Renditions) and Marit Meredith (Shambelurkling).

I have also had a limerick published by Iron Press in their Limerick Nation compilation, which covers the UK in five line verse!

I am an Associate Member of the Society of Authors and am a long term subscriber to Writers' News, Mslexia, the P.G. Wodehouse Society (UK) and, of course, ACW.

I flesh out my fantasy world on my websites:-

I have only had the pleasure of being able to get to one ACW Writing Day so far (where I learned how to set up a website via Weebly!).  I hope to get to more days in due course.

Am glad to report I will be attending another ACW Writers' Day. I'm very much looking forward to the Bath Writers' Day about Getting Your Book into Print. I'm currently working on a short story collection and am seriously considering self publishing so this is really timely. I think Someone may be giving me more than a hint here!

I'm also pleased to report some of my stories have appeared in two further anthologies in 2015. The Magic Flute, one of my longer short stories, was selected to appear in The Best of Cafelit 4, a print compilation of the best pieces to appear during the year as selected by the editor, Debz Hobbs-Wyatt, so my thanks to go to her.

I've also had flash fiction pieces appear on the online version of Cafelit ( and have had a 100 words story appear in their Advent Calendar.

I've also had work appear online at, a US based writing magazine. As a result of this, I was invited to submit work to Stories in Green Ink, a print compilation, and two of my pieces appeared in here - a reworked version of an old story of mine, Out of Time, and a newer, shorter piece called The Great Getaway. My thanks go to Catherine Broughton for inviting me to submit work here (and for producing a beautiful cover).

I am also now writing non-fiction, something I never expected to do, on a local online magazine called Chandler's Ford Today (
mes/). I've shared a link to one of my most recent pieces about the joy of libraries. I usually blog here about books, stories, local issues, have interviewed local writers and written appreciations of Jane Austen and Terry Pratchett (now there's a mix!).

I'm looking forward to where my writing will take me in 2016. I have learned to be open to writing in ways I hadn't expected and hope this is a way in which I can serve God.
