About Me
I am an unpublished writer, but I have been writing stories and poems all my life - ever since I discovered that the stories my mother read to me were written by PEOPLE! and didn't just appear on the page. I belongto a local Writers' Group but don't know any other Christian writers, apart from the people I have met at Scargill House on two of Adrian and Bridget Plass's weekends so I decided it was time I joined A.C.W. and maybe ventured into social media, which has always scared me. No photograph I'm afraid - I hate seeing myself and avoid anything other than group photographs. |

About Me
Simon Charles Page was born in Romford, Essex in 1970 and grew up with a love of football, film, frolicking and females (the priority of the four 'F's reversed during his teenage years).
After attending three different senior schools, Simon decided that it wasn't a good idea to turn up for his GCE's and bunked off to head for the workplace as a carpet fitter, only to find the YTS scheme waiting with twenty something quid a week and a clip 'round the ear for cutting carpet 'very wonky'.
Simon describes the next ten years of his working life in grim fashion: 'I've worked as a telesales 'thingy' (eww), vending machine salesman (spit), insurance clerk (snore), debt collector (ouch), recruitment consultant (I liked that one) and a mortgage broker (I worked for sharks and didn't last long).'
Things were to change drastically in 1996, when Simon decided to become a 'real' student and take a B.A. Hons. Theology degree somewhere outside of Essex, called 'The North'.
Simon began to ask questions about this strange new land called 'The North' and was told there was something called the North-South divide. Apparently, things were so bad 'oop North', that folk were likely to be poorer, live off a diet of mushy peas and statistically, die younger. Whether that was down to the mushy peas, Simon wasn't quite sure - that was until he started to do his research.
After reading about an imaginary line called the equator, Simon mistook the North-South divide (which isn't an exact line either) for the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Things seemed to match at first. After all, the Northern Hemisphere had more pollution due to population density (which Simon believed must contribute to the poor health in 'The North' and not just the mushy peas).
Concerned that he might be sharing a million acres of land with a handful of infected people and the odd tiger or elephant, Simon was relieved to discover that his move to new pastures wouldn't involve a Trans-Atlantic flight, but a car journey up the M6 motorway to a grassy dwelling called Cheshire.
Simon finished his degree in 1999 and until 2007, worked as a Church Minister in Merseyside and Blackpool. In more sophisticated company, Simon explained that he resided in Southport, near Royal Birkdale and when in Lancashire, he lived a few cosy miles from Royal Lytham.
Simon has since been involved in a number of creative projects, patented a new invention with a good friend; launched a number of businesses and of course, written a comedy novel called 'Missing Gretyl', along with the satirical parody of David Cameron called: 'The Inside Scoop: The Secret Journal of a Prime Minister'.

About Me
My first book was published by Glory to Glory publications in August 2012!!! Such an exciting moment!! YAY!!! So - as a member of ACW, I obviously love to write... I also love to organise. So that's what I do, in a nutshell. Until my debut book, I have been writing a Christian Teenage Girl's Magazine called SHINE which is published and distributed free of charge to girls accorss the world. It's such an honour to be able to use my hands to encourage others. |

About Me
Writing, other than for work-purposes within a civil service department, hadn't been on my agenda ... until recently. But through a series of God-driven circumstances it's now a significant feature of my time/energies. Having to use the self-publishing route for spiritual-growth material to emerge in book form has also been a steep learning-curve. However the result, in physical terms so far, has been three books: Dialogue with a Donkey (looking at the incident involving Balaam), Fleeces Fears and Flames (exploring the life of Gideon), and Focusing beyond the Horizon (learning from Samuel about God's perspective). All are listed on Amazon. In all of this experience being sensitive to God has, and continues, to be a vital element. Hope that this presents a 'flavour' of where things are 'at' with me at the moment ... a work in progress! |

About Me
I grew up in a sleepy little beach town on the coast of Los Angeles, as a third-generation Californian. A deep fascination with the sea led to a degree in Aquatic Biology at UC Santa Barbara, where I also met my wife. Together we have travelled widely to many, rarely visited, corners of the world in our work with an international Christian mission. The last twenty years have been increasingly rooted in the UK, and so we added a British passport and citizenship (they just let anyone in nowadays…) to the litany of our life. It is a sabbatical year, and among other things, I am exploring writing about the colonization of the open seas. Like the opening American West, this new frontier allows for a wide cast of characters there for many reasons – from the noble and opportunistic to the foolish and downright dastardly. A similar love of science allows me to follow trajectories of today’s technology into the near future. Like Isaac Asimov, I believe stories like this are not so much science fiction, but social fiction. Finally, I am also fascinated by faith in the world today – not religion, but faith. Though not often discussed in polite society, faith nonetheless dominates the headlines of our news and its influence is pervasive in world events. In my writing I want to explore missional communities, spiritual formation, why Muslims might decide to follow Jesus and what happens next. Though I have many ideas, I am a neophyte in the craft of writing fiction, and am eager to engage with others further along the path. Looking forward to getting to know you. Â |

Hello all, I have a trilogy of Christian fiction out there, self-published with Authors Online, 'Leviathan with a Fish-hook (2009), 'The Monster Behemoth' (2010), and 'The Land of Nimrod' (2011.) It looks as if I was hard at work for three years but as you may have guessed it took a lot longer than that! I call it 'realistic contemporary British Christian fiction for adults', and I'm trying to write about people living the Christian life in our times - warts, doubts, fears and all. There are reviews and excerpts on Amazon and on my website www.slrussell.co.uk A fourth novel, a stand-alone this time, in a similar genre was published in November 2014. It's called 'A Shed in a Cucumber Field' and can be found in all the usual places, both as a paperback and an e book. Following the sad demise of Authors Online all my books are now under the umbrella of New Generation Publishing. I have recently finished the first draft of no. 5, so some of next year will be spent editing. I worship at St Margaret's High Halstow in North Kent where I am the organist. |

Hello, I joined ACW in 2014. I have been writing on and off all my life. Minutes of meetings, press reports for the WI, announcements for the parish magazine. I did a correspondence course on writing for children around twenty years ago and won a prize at county level in a WI competition with a children's story. However I became discouraged by repeated rejections. My interests include science and languages. I am married with two grown-up children (both married) and three grandchildren. I returned to writing in 2012 by starting a blog. Now I have three blogs and enough material for more than one book. I am also working on a book. I attend a 'local' group of Christian writers and hope to meet some more ACW members later this year.
