About Me

I am a mum of 4 ,a grandma,and a widow of 8 years.

I trained as a nurse(SRN) in London in the 60's and in between having babies I worked for the most part in the NHS! When I retired 3 years ago, I had withdrawal symptoms, from working and meeting with so many great people. We hear so much about the NHS and often the comments are not good.  But I am passionate about about the good it does and the concept of being "Free at the point of need".

I wanted to be able to tell my grandchildren about my training and the vision of the NHS in those days. It was not an easy life especially arriving in London as a niave 18year old with little experience of life outside my home. I had lots of lessons to learn and adjustment to make as I experinced hospital life.

For this reason I have just self-published "Angels of the NHS".  I invite you to travel with me as through my experiences, and the stories of Patients  I cared for and the Professionals  I encountered I document the excitement of life in a hospital in the 60's.

About Me

I am a retired teacher of primary and special needs children. I was brought up in the Free Church of Scotland, mellowed slightly by membership of the Scripture union in adolescence, and now married to a catholic, I come with a broad outlook I hope!

I have had a little success with short stories and am have written a historical novel for children 9-14 about afictional apprentice to Nicholas Hilliard the miniaturist to Queen Eliz abeth 1 which is out therre looking for a publisher.

As the thread of that story is the twelve year old trying to work out where Chistianity fits in with all the disruption between the Catholic and protestants( while learning his trade as an artist and protecting his patron from accusation of conspiracy with the Babbington plotters) I wondered (being quite truthful! )whether I might learn of any publisher who interested in this sort of thing, through Christian writers.

I am now half way through the next story of the same character when he meets an african boy apprenticed to a conversso muslim doctor from Granada This gives me a chance to let my ,now 14 yr old boy, ask about the concepts of God in Islam. Some questions that children of today might also find interesting. Hope this is the info you want about me!

About Me

I live in North Wales in a small village near St. Asaph. I teach people to drive and I also teach Astronomy GCSE (now about to go into my 6th year of this) part time at my local college. I taught maths for ten years in secondary school and now also teach maths part time in my local college. My particular interests are Astrophysics and Theology (degrees in both, currently updating my Atrophysics degree online with UCLAN as my previous degree was 30 years ago and somewhat out of date) and how they agree. I attend Llanelwy Christian Fellowship in St. Asaph.
